Netting Monster Sockeye

Netting Monster Sockeye

The fishermen in this video by Brave Wilderness departed a little from the usual fishing techniques, literally netting a monster sockeye salmon, the gem of Alaska rivers. All throughout the day, while searching for the distinctive red backs of the sockeye in the murky water, the crew also kept a sharp eye out for grizzlies, which were clearly in the territory for the height of spawning season and left clear signs of their presence – fresh fish kills. Instead of using a standard fly fishing rod and reel, these fishermen decided to use the more primitive dip net. Though they didn’t have much success from the boat, Coyote got lucky when he stepped into the icy water.
