Stephen Bruner aka “Thundercat” was born into a musical family and began playing the bass at a very young age. The Los Angeles native was already making waves at the tender age of 15 with a hit in Germany as a member of the boy band “No Curfew”. Bruner’s musical inspirations and aspirations extend well outside any one particular genre or skill set. He could being laying down a thudding pulse with the thrash/punk band “Suicidal Tendencies” ( A member for 9 years) or just as comfortably laying down a funk fueled undulating groove dancing just beneath the surface of Erykah Badu’s 2008 album “ New Amerykah”. His extensive work on Kendrick Lamar’s “To Pimp a Butterfly” earned him a grammy. A front man in his own right, Bruner’s latest release “Drunk” features the unexpected appearance of Kenny Loggins and Michael McDonald, solidifying his reputation as a musician unafraid to explore any musical avenue be it past or present. Watch his six string prowess as he lays down intricate bass lines while his melodic voice croons softly and simply over top.
